Ori Danino’s Apple Cake

Ingredients

2 eggs
1/3 cup of vegetable oil (about 80 ml)
1/3 cup of granulated sugar (about 60 grams)
1 large apple, peeled and cut into small cubes
1/3 cup of water (about 80 ml)
1 cup of self-raising flour
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

For the crumble:

1/3 cup of all-purpose flour (about 45 grams)
1/4 cup of ground nuts or almonds (about 30 grams)
1 tablespoon of granulated sugar
3 tablespoons of vegetable oil

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius (about 350 degrees Fahrenheit). Grease a standard English cake pan.

Prepare the crumble mixture: In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, ground nuts or almonds, sugar, and vegetable oil. Mix until it forms a crumbly texture. Set aside.

In another bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until well combined. Add the cubed apple, vegetable oil, water, and ground cinnamon. Mix until everything is evenly incorporated.

Gradually add the self-raising flour to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Pour the batter into the greased cake pan, spreading it out evenly.

Sprinkle the prepared crumble mixture evenly over the top of the cake batter.

Place the cake pan in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Enjoy your delicious homemade apple cake!

Ori Danino (25)

Ori Danino, 25 years old, was abducted from the party in Ra'im. Ori is the eldest son in his family, a young man who always helps and takes care of everyone. His four younger brothers see him as both a "father and mother," knowing that Ori will do anything for them. Bringing the whole family together is one of the most important things for Ori. His girlfriend, Liel Avraham, is doing everything together with his family to bring Ori home.

Ori greatly enjoys parties and music; he's a lively young man who delights in making others happy. He's also an avid surfer and finds joy in making a cup of coffee in the midst of nature - in fact, it's his trademark. Ori has always had a penchant for helping others and consistently prioritizes the needs of others over his own. Everyone knows that Ori is always there when help is needed.

For example, on October 7th, he was at the party in Ra'im and had already rescued some friends and brought them to safety in his car. And yet, despite reaching safety, Ori insisted on returning to the party venue to help others, including friends he had met just that day - Mia and Itai Regev, and Omer Shem Tov. Unfortunately, during this daring rescue, they were all kidnapped by Hamas terrorists. Mia and Itai Regev were later released in a hostage deal, but Ori and Omer remain in captivity. Ori's favorite cake is apple cake.
