Ingredients
2 eggs
1/3 cup of vegetable oil (about 80 ml)
1/3 cup of granulated sugar (about 60 grams)
1 large apple, peeled and cut into small cubes
1/3 cup of water (about 80 ml)
1 cup of self-raising flour
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
For the crumble:
1/3 cup of all-purpose flour (about 45 grams)
1/4 cup of ground nuts or almonds (about 30 grams)
1 tablespoon of granulated sugar
3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius (about 350 degrees Fahrenheit). Grease a standard English cake pan.
Prepare the crumble mixture: In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, ground nuts or almonds, sugar, and vegetable oil. Mix until it forms a crumbly texture. Set aside.
In another bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until well combined. Add the cubed apple, vegetable oil, water, and ground cinnamon. Mix until everything is evenly incorporated.
Gradually add the self-raising flour to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Pour the batter into the greased cake pan, spreading it out evenly.
Sprinkle the prepared crumble mixture evenly over the top of the cake batter.
Place the cake pan in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Enjoy your delicious homemade apple cake!
