Karina Ariev’s chocolate chip heart cookies

Ingredients

200 grams of margarine
200 (1 cup) grams of white sugar
80 (half a cup) grams of compressed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
325 grams (2 and a quarter cups) of flour
A teaspoon of baking soda
Pinch of salt
260 grams of chocolate chips

Preparation

Heat an oven to medium high heat (190 degrees).

Mix the margarine (or butter) with the sugar and add the eggs and vanilla extract until you get an airy mixture. Add the flour, salt and baking soda and stir well until a uniform mixture is obtained.

Add the chocolate chips and mix well by hand. Drop uniform amounts of mixture with a spoon on a baking sheet at intervals of 5 cm between the cookies. Bake for about 10 minutes.

To create a heart cookie – create a general shape of a heart before baking, and after baking (when the cookies are still soft and warm) accurately cut using a heart-shaped cutter.

Karina Ariev (19)

Karina, only 19 years old, is a sensitive and gentle girl with a big heart. She is a little sister to Sasha, who says about her that "she radiates light, just like her name". Karina's favorite cookie is a chocolate chip cookie.

On October 7, Karina was kidnapped from Nahal Oz. The family received a video in which she was seen kidnapped by Hamas. At 06:30am she called her father and said there were shots, cried and shouted and said goodbye to the family. Later, the family was exposed to a video on Telegram where she is seen being kidnapped in a car with two other girls, and she has wounds on her face. Despite her young age, Karina always takes care of everyone. Her parents said that "even when she called and cried, she asked us not to take revenge, not to go looking for her, to go on with our lives."
